Ingredients:

1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

Heat together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice into a small pan over low heat. Stir the sugar and lemon juice mixture until the sugar is completely melted and becomes liquefied and not a full boil. Do not over heat or it will become too think and turn brown as sugar can easily burn. Next, let it cool for about 5 minutes then brush or drizzle over cakes while the cakes are still warm. Make sure to let it soak in to the cakes for 20-30 minutes before you serve them which will allow the cakes to cool slightly so that no one gets burnt but able to enjoy while they are still warm. Refrigerate any unused portions and you can freeze any leftovers too.

Try this on the Vanilla Mug Cake for a tasty treat! Also, give the other mug cakes a try. There are a Red Velvet Mug Cake recipe and Chocolate Mug Cake recipe to check out. So, give them a try and let me know which one is your favorite. Let me know how you decorated yours and how you made the recipe your own by adding your own special touch.

Not a fan of Lemon?

Not big on lemon? Simply replace the 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice with water and add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or peppermint extract or orange extract, or the flavoring of your choice. For an even flavorful treat make that 1 tablespoon of flavoring instead of the 1 teaspoon.
