Meet Cork’s family

I am blessed with 3 great adult children. I have a step-son, step daughter and I gave birth to a son. They are all fantastic individuals with great senses of humor, smart as can be and are good and kind human beings. Out of respect for their privacy I will not include any pictures nor talk much about them.

Bella

I currently have two dogs and a cat. My black lab – pit mix is a female named Bella. We got her from PAWS when she was around 1 1/2 yrs-old. She is now around 14 yrs-old. Bella has the sweetest sole and is a people pleaser. She was already will trained when we got her, but when she was young she did chew up a few pairs of shoes. Finally, she outgrew that phase. Also, she use to have bad separation anxiety but now she just kicks back and go to sleep. As long as she has food and water, she is one happy dog. UPDATE unfortunately Bella passed away on 3/16/2021.

Jackie

My other dog, Jackie, is a Pit Bull as far as I can tell. On Christmas Eve, as My son and I were heading to my Mom’s, Jackie was running in the middle of the street. It was a matter of time before she would get hit if we had not pulled over. She jumped into the back seat eagerly and we took her back home. We put up posters but no one claimed her. She was around 7 months at that time and is now around a year old. Unlike Bella, Jackie is not a people pleaser. But as she outgrows that puppy stage, I can tell, she is going loving, protective but oh so gentle.

Comet

Now, that leaves us with my cat, Comet. My son brought home Comet about 15 years ago as a young kitten, but you would never know he is that old as he still lives up to his name. Comet is such a cat! He wakes from a sound sleep to jump in front of you to lead the way, as if he knows where you are going. Then, he realizes that he does not and comes to a complete stop so that you have to try not to trip over him on your way to the bathroom.

Even though my son brought each of these animals into our lives, they know who feeds them. They are obsessed with me. Actually, I think they are afraid that either me or one of the other animals will get some food and they don’t want to miss out. Each time I look over at them, they are staring back at me. Good thing I don’t have and phobias about being stared at, right? At least, I know I am loved. And so are the two legged and four legged joys of my life.
